We are Mohan Kumar Architects, based over in the Wilson Garden area. Specifically, we’re at No 1, on the 11th Cross near Sri Devi Sannathi. The area is quite settled and has that old neighborhood feel that I really like. Our office is just a regular space where we get our work done. It’s not a big firm with hundreds of employees. It’s just us. We spend a lot of time looking at site plans and trying to make things fit into the tight spaces you often get in this part of town. Architecture in a place like Wilson Garden means you have to be clever with every inch of space. We talk to a lot of local residents who want to renovate their old family homes to make them more modern. It can be a bit of a headache dealing with all the regulations, but we figure it out as we go. There’s a lot of paper around the office, and the phone rings more than I’d like, but that’s the job. We don’t have a flashy sign outside to attract people. Most folks just know where we are. We like the 11th Cross because it's a bit tucked away from the main road noise. It's a decent place to sit and think about structures and materials. We’ve been here for a while and have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. We just keep doing our drawings and helping people put up their walls and roofs one project at a time.
