About New India Perfumery Works – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Bengaluru
We are located at P.B. No. 6786, inside the Millia Building on N.R. Road. It’s room number 109. Being on N.R. Road means we are right in the middle of all the traffic and noise of the city market area. The Millia Building is an old structure, and you can feel the history in the hallways. Our space is quite small and always smells strongly of sandalwood, jasmine, and various oils. We spend our time mixing scents and filling small glass bottles. There’s a lot of hand-labeling involved, and our fingers are often sticky from the essences. We have been here for a long time, and some of our equipment looks like it belongs in a museum. We keep our records in big ledger books rather than on a computer. It’s a very traditional way of working. The lighting isn't the best, so we use desk lamps to see what we are doing. Customers often come in looking for specific scents that their parents or grandparents used to buy from us. We don’t have a fancy storefront; it’s more of a workshop where the real work happens. Outside, the street is constantly buzzing with vehicles and people shouting, but inside, we just focus on the scales and the drops of oil. It’s a delicate process that we’ve perfected over many decades in this same spot. We take a break when the heat gets too much in the afternoon.
