Micron Measurements

Our place is down in Peenya at number 90. If you know the area, you know it gets pretty loud with all the factories and trucks moving around. We spend our time working with tools that measure things very specifically. It’s a lot of sitting at benches and looking at small screens or dials. The air in Peenya is always a bit heavy with the smell of grease and metal, and our shop is no different. We started here because this is where the work is. Most of our days are spent checking equipment that other shops send over. Sometimes the calibration takes a long time and we end up staying late. The coffee machine in the corner is probably the most used thing in the office besides the calipers. We don't really have a big sign outside, just the name on the door. It’s a small team, mostly people who have been doing this for a long time. We don't do much talking; we just focus on the numbers. The shelves are packed with boxes and old manuals that we still use. Sometimes we have to go out to other plants to see why their machines aren't lining up right. It’s greasy work, but someone has to do it. We’ve been at this address for a good stretch now and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit. There’s usually a stack of paperwork on the desk that never seems to get smaller.
