Mataji Sanitary & Hardware

Our place, Mataji Sanitary & Hardware, is situated on Kanakpura Road in Basavanagudi, at number 36. Basavanagudi is a nice part of the city, though the traffic on Kanakpura Road can be a real headache sometimes. We have been here for some time now, dealing with all kinds of bathroom fittings and general hardware items. The shop isn't huge, so we have to stack things pretty high to make everything fit. You might see pipes and taps sitting around while we organize the stock. People from the neighborhood stop by when they have a leak or need to replace something in their house. We spend a lot of time talking to customers about what size nut or bolt they might need. It’s a local business through and through. The store feels a bit lived-in, with some dust on the higher shelves and piles of catalogs near the counter. We open up early and stay until the evening. It can get a bit chaotic when several people come in at once asking for different things. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that, it's just us working the counter and helping out. The building itself is an older one, which gives it a bit of character I suppose. Living and working in Basavanagudi means we know a lot of the faces that walk past our door every day. We just keep at it day after day.
