Mars Traders

Mars Traders is located on Chickpet Abbigere Main Road, K G Halli 11, which is a very busy area to be in. We deal with a lot of general trading, so the inventory changes depending on what’s in demand at the time. One week we might have stacks of hardware, and the next it’s something else entirely like cleaning supplies or tools. The shop is basically a large room with high ceilings and rows of metal racks that we put up ourselves. It’s a bit of a struggle to keep the dust off everything since the main road is right there and the trucks kick up a lot of grit every time they pass. We spend a lot of time on the phone with transporters and checking the manifests to see what arrived in the morning. It’s mostly just moving boxes from the truck to the back of the shop and then out to the customers who come by. There’s a small desk near the entrance where we sit and write out bills by hand in a notebook. The chairs are old and they creak every time someone sits down to rest. We drink a lot of tea from the small stall next door just to keep the energy up through the afternoon. It gets really crowded during the middle of the day, and sometimes it’s hard to even move around the racks.
