Manu Tyres

We are set up in the Lakshmi Building over at 136 Kalipalayam. It’s a good spot right on the road. We spend a lot of time outside on the gravel moving tires around. Some of these truck tires are incredibly heavy and it takes two of us just to roll them into place. We do a lot of wheel balancing and fixing punctures that people get from the rough roads around here. Our clothes are permanently stained with grease and dirt but we don't mind. It shows we’ve been working. The shop is filled with the smell of rubber and the sound of the air compressor kicking on. We don't have a big fancy sign or a showroom. Most of our inventory is just stacked up where we can find it. People pull in, we have a quick chat about what's wrong, and then we get to work. It’s mostly locals who stop by, people we’ve seen for years. We know who drives which car and when they are likely to need a new set of wheels. Sometimes we sit on old tires during our lunch break and just watch the traffic go by. It’s a simple business but people need their cars to run. We try to be fair and just get the job done so they can get back on the road. It’s physical work and our backs ache by evening, but it’s what we do. We like the local life and the regulars.
