Maheshwari Marble Udyog

Running a stone yard like Maheshwari Marble Udyog at 30/3 -2 on Banneraghatta Road near Hosur Road is a lot of heavy lifting. Every day we are dealing with these massive slabs of marble and granite. It is a dusty business and our clothes are always white by the end of the shift. The traffic on Bannerghatta Road is a nightmare most of the time so getting the trucks in and out is always a struggle. We spend a lot of time just waiting for deliveries to arrive or helping people look through the different patterns in the stone. No two pieces are ever the same which makes it interesting but also hard when someone wants a perfect match. We don't have a fancy showroom with bright lights. It is just a yard with stone stacked up everywhere. You have to walk around and get your shoes a bit dirty to see what we have. Most of our day is spent talking to contractors or guys who are building their first house. They ask a lot of questions about which stone is stronger or why one costs more than the other. We just tell them what we know from seeing these stones for years. It is not an easy job because everything is so heavy and you have to be careful not to crack the edges. But we are here every day sitting among the slabs and waiting for the next truck to pull in.
