If you go down Bawa Latif Ni Gali in Chickpet, you will see our shop at number 5. We are right by Byrappa & Sons, which is a good landmark if you aren't from this area. This lane gets really crowded in the afternoons, especially with the carts and people walking everywhere. We’ve been trading goods here for quite some time now. The space is small and stuffed with boxes from floor to ceiling. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room to turn around, but we know where everything is. My father started this and now I spend most of my day here checking inventory and talking to suppliers. It is dusty work and my hands are usually dirty by lunch. We don’t use any big computers or fancy systems, just our ledgers and some pens that always seem to go missing. Dealing with the traffic in Chickpet is the hardest part of the day. We have regular customers who come by for what they need, and we usually have a quick tea while we settle the bills. It’s a simple life. We don’t try to be bigger than we are. We just focus on getting the right items in and selling them at a fair price to the folks who come through that door. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the front, but we just put a bucket down and keep going. That is just how it is for us every day.
