You can find Mahalakshmi Auto Centre over in Prakash Nagar, specifically at Dhanjiwadi 1706. It is a workshop, so it is usually pretty greasy and loud. We have cars coming in and out all day long. Most of the time we are under a hood or under a chassis with a wrench in hand. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear nice clothes. We have been working out of this spot for a long time. The neighborhood knows us. We handle a lot of regular maintenance and repairs that people need for their daily commute. There is always a pile of old tires in the corner and the sound of an air compressor running in the background. My hands are usually stained with oil by ten in the morning. It’s just the way the job is. We don't have a waiting room with a TV or anything like that. People usually just drop their keys off and head to work, then come back later. We try to be honest about what needs fixing and what can wait a bit. It’s a small team here, just a few mechanics who have been doing this since we were young. The building itself is a bit weathered, but it stays dry when it rains, which is the important part. We just do the work and try to keep everyone on the road. It’s a solid way to make a living and we stay pretty busy.
