If you’ve spent any time in Bangalore, you know how much building is going on everywhere you look. We are Maarif Builders and we are right in the middle of all that noise and dust. It’s a tough business to be in because things are always changing and the traffic makes getting materials to a site a real headache. We spend a lot of our time on our phones trying to track down where a truck is or why a certain delivery is late. Our team isn't very big, but we’ve stayed busy because there’s always someone looking to put something up or fix an old structure in Karnataka. We don't have a fancy corporate office with air conditioning everywhere. Mostly, we are out on the dirt or standing around a half-finished wall talking to the laborers. Bangalore is a big place, and we move around different areas depending on where the project is. It’s physical work and your clothes usually end up covered in cement or mud by the end of the shift. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just look at the plans and try to make the building look like the drawing. It’s a lot of long hours and drinking coffee at roadside stalls. We just keep our heads down and try to finish one job before the next one starts up. That is how we have always done it.
