M K S Motors is located down in Jalahalli, specifically in the Rajput Dubey Chawl area. It is a grit-and-grease kind of place. We spend nearly all day under car hoods or looking at oily engines. The floor is permanently stained with oil and there are tools scattered all across the heavy workbenches. It is definitely not one of those clean, white-tiled dealerships you see. It is a real workshop where the hard work actually happens. We have got a lot of old parts stacked up in the back that we think we might need one day. The noise of wrenches clanking and engines revving is pretty much the soundtrack to our lives here. The chawl is a busy spot, so there is always something going on right outside the door. We started this because we liked working on motors, and that is still the main reason we do it. Sometimes we are covered in black soot by noon. It is hard work, and the heat in the summer makes the metal parts very tough to handle. We do not have a receptionist, so if you come by, just look for the guy with the dirtiest hands. We take things as they come. Some days it is just simple oil changes, and other days we are taking an entire engine apart. We do not promise any miracles, just that we will put in the time to fix it. We have been here for years.
