Agr Rock Cutting

You can find us at Robertes Block in Rc Puram, specifically at C-158 on the 1st Main Road. This isn't a quiet job by any means. There is almost always the sound of saws or hammers going in the background. We deal with stone and rock every day, so the floor is always covered in a layer of fine dust, no matter how much we sweep. It’s heavy work, and by the end of the shift, everyone is usually pretty tired. We wear our boots and heavy clothes because it’s the only way to stay safe around the machinery. The workshop is open to the air mostly, which helps with the heat but lets in the rain during the monsoon. We have a small area where we keep the tools organized, though they often end up scattered when we are in the middle of a big job. People bring us pieces that need specific cuts, and we spend the day measuring and marking before we start the machines. It’s a lot of manual labor, lifting and positioning the slabs so they don't crack. We don't have a front office with air conditioning. If you want to talk to us, you usually have to shout over the noise or wait until we turn a machine off. We take our breaks together, sitting on whatever is available and drinking tea. It’s a rough environment but we like the feeling of actually making something solid.
