Kumar Auto Agency is situated at 64/3 on Hanumantappa Siddaiah Road, which most people just call H S Road. It’s a narrow spot but we make it work. We have shelves full of parts for all kinds of vehicles. It’s a bit of a maze inside if you don't know where things are kept. We've been here a long time. The street is always loud with horns and people shouting. We don't have a big showroom. It’s more of a warehouse feel where things are stacked up to the ceiling. We spend our time looking up part numbers and checking what’s in stock. If we don’t have it, we try to find out who does. It’s a lot of running around sometimes. My nephew helps me with the heavy lifting. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for the next customer. H S Road is famous for auto parts, so we fit right in. We don't bother with fancy displays. The parts speak for themselves. Most of our customers are mechanics who know exactly what they want. They don't want a sales pitch. They just want the right bolt or cable. We keep the ledger updated by hand mostly. It’s an old-school way of doing things but it works for us. We are open late most days. It gets dusty and hot, but that’s just the way it is on this road. We stay until the last customer leaves.
