Hindusree Wood Works

You can usually find us at Hindusree Wood Works by looking for the Venkateshwara Theatre in Krishnarajapura. We are located right near Venkateshwara Theatre, so we hear the music from the movies playing throughout the day. The smell of sawdust is the first thing you notice when you walk in. It gets into everything—your clothes, your hair, even your coffee if you aren't careful. My hands are usually covered in some kind of wood glue or dust by ten in the morning. We have a lot of different pieces of wood leaning against the walls, waiting to be cut or sanded down. It’s not a quiet place because of the saws and the hammers, but it’s a good kind of noise. I’ve been working here for a long time, and I know every creak in the floorboards. Most of the people who come in are locals who have lived in Krishnarajapura for years. They stop by to ask for a small repair or just to see what we are currently building. The shop is a bit dark toward the back, where we keep the older tools and the scraps. We don’t have a fancy showroom or a website. People just know where we are because we are near the theatre. It’s hard work, and even though the physical labor is tough on the back, I like the feeling of making something real with my own two hands. We just keep the doors open and see what the day brings.
