If you’ve been on St Marks Road, you’ve probably walked past us at number 39. This place has been around for ages and it shows in the walls and the furniture. We don’t have those fancy new lights or modern chairs; we just kept everything the way it was for a long time. People come here because they know what they are going to get. Some of the waiters have been working here since before the younger customers were even born. It’s a bit of a slow-moving place compared to the rest of Bangalore. We serve coffee, breakfast, and drinks, and people tend to sit and talk for hours. The ceiling fans have been spinning for decades. We don't try to be cool or trendy. We just serve the same kind of food we always have. Sometimes the service is a bit slow because we take our time with things. You can hear the traffic from St Marks Road outside, but inside it feels a bit like stepping back into a different version of the city. We have a lot of regular customers who have their favorite tables and won’t sit anywhere else. It’s just an old-fashioned bar and restaurant where people can feel at home without anyone bothering them too much. It’s a bit dusty and worn out in spots, but that’s just how it is.
