This office is tucked away in Bangalore, specifically up in RMV Extn-2Nd Stage at the Anriya Dwellington building. Being part of the Kishangarh Marble Udyog Vikas Samiti means there is always a lot of talk about stone, shipping, and how the market is doing back in Rajasthan. We don’t sell the marble directly from here, it’s more about coordinating things and making sure the local members have what they need for their shops and projects. The room is usually filled with samples of white marble and granite offcuts that people leave behind. It’s a bit of a climb to the office, but the view of the street is okay. Most of the afternoon is spent on the phone or writing down notes about transport costs and labor issues. It’s not a corporate setup at all, just a few of us sitting around desks piled with folders and old newspapers. Sometimes builders come by to ask about the quality of a certain batch of stone, and we try to give them the straight story without any fluff. It’s a quiet enough area of Bangalore compared to the city center, which is nice when you’re trying to get through a stack of invoices. We keep a kettle in the corner for tea because the days can get long when the shipments are delayed. It’s just a regular workplace where we try to keep the marble trade moving along.
