Akshaya Jewellery Works

Akshaya Jewellery Works is situated at No. 168 in the Pooja Complex. This is on 1st Cross Kilari Road, which is very close to Avenue Road. If you know this part of the city, you know how crowded it gets. The streets are narrow and there are people everywhere at all hours of the day. Our shop is inside the complex, and it’s a bit of a tight squeeze sometimes when we have a lot of work going on. We have our tools and our benches set up where we do all the jewelry tasks. It isn't a showroom with bright lights and velvet cushions. It’s more of a workshop where the actual making happens. The noise from Kilari Road drifts in, but we are used to it by now. Being near Avenue Road is handy for getting supplies, though the traffic can be a nightmare if you’re trying to move fast. We just stay at our benches and focus on the pieces in front of us. The Pooja Complex has been there for years and we are just one of the many small businesses inside. It feels like a little community of makers. We don't have a website or anything like that. People usually find us by word of mouth or by just walking through the complex. We just keep doing what we do at 168. It’s a lot of manual labor and concentration, day in and day out.
