We are based at 23 Sunkadakatte, inside the Yeshaswini Complex. If you know the area, it is a busy spot with lots of shops. We work with silk, which is a lot more complicated than people realize. There are rolls of fabric everywhere and the colors can be quite bright when the sun hits them. We spend our time checking the quality and dealing with the weavers and suppliers. Sunkadakatte is a bit noisy during the day, but it is a good place for a business like ours. We aren't a big corporate chain or anything like that. It is just a local operation where we know our customers by name. Sometimes the silk comes in and it isn't exactly what we expected, so we have to sort through it. It is a lot of physical work, moving the heavy rolls around and making sure everything is stored properly so it doesn't get ruined. We get a lot of local folks coming in just to see what is new. The complex has a few other shops, so there is always people moving around. We try to keep things organized, but when a new shipment arrives, the whole place looks like a mess for a few hours. It is just how it goes when you are dealing with textiles. We like the work, even if it is a bit dusty sometimes. It feels good to see the finished fabric ready to go.
