Our place is at number 17 on the 2nd Main Road in Jeevan Bhima Nagar. It’s a straightforward spot and easy to spot if you’re driving down the main road. The morning starts with us unloading the supplies from the trucks and getting everything into the walk-in cooler. It can be a bit of a mess with all the crates, but we get it sorted before the first customers show up. The 2nd Main Road is usually packed with cars and scooters, so there’s a lot of noise coming from outside. We have a crew that works in shifts, so there are always different people in the back. Some of us have been here for years and others are just starting out. We spend a lot of time cleaning up spills and making sure the napkins are stocked. The tables are standard and we try to keep them wiped down, though it’s hard when it’s busy. We don’t have much in the way of decor, just the usual stuff you’d expect to see. At the end of the night, we turn off the big signs and finish the cleaning while the street outside finally starts to quiet down. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and moving quickly, but we’re used to it. Number 17 has become a familiar place for us, and we know exactly how many steps it takes to get from the counter to the back door to let the trash out.
