You can find us at 1647/1 on the 1st Main Road in Jeevan Bhima Nagar, right in the HAL 3rd Stage area. The building has been here for a bit and we’ve made it our own over the years. It’s a two-story setup and usually, the kitchen is the loudest place in the whole building. There is always a pot bubbling or someone chopping something on a wooden board. We start the day by checking the stock and seeing what the market brought in. The 1st Main Road stays fairly busy with people heading toward the main HAL offices, so we see a lot of commuters. During the monsoon, the water tends to pool a bit near the entrance, so we’re always putting out mats and telling people to watch their step. Our chairs are basic and the tables are the kind that have seen a lot of plates over the years. We don’t have fancy decorations, just some plain walls and the lights we need to see what we’re doing. The staff eats together in the afternoons when the lunch crowd thins out, usually sitting at the back tables. We talk about the local news or the cricket scores. It’s a simple routine that we follow every day from morning until we lock up the shutters at night. People know where we are because of the sign out front, and we just keep the doors open for whoever stops by to eat.
