Just Bake

Working at Just Bake over here at Mahadevapura 8 is mostly about keeping up with the cake orders. It’s a small shop tucked away, and if you aren't looking for it, you might miss us. We have a big fridge that hums all day long to keep the pastries cold. In the mornings, it’s quiet enough to hear the traffic outside, but by noon, the place fills up with people on their lunch breaks looking for a quick snack. I spend a lot of time organizing the display case so the cakes look decent. Sometimes the cream melts a bit if the air conditioning isn't cranked up, so we’re always checking the thermometer. The back room is where the real work happens, with flour getting on everything—our shoes, our aprons, even the phone. We don’t do anything too complicated, just the standard stuff people like. People in Mahadevapura seem to have a lot of celebrations because we’re always writing names on cakes with that colored gel. My handwriting isn't the best, but I’ve practiced a lot since I started. We have a few regulars who stop by every single day for a puff or a cookie. It’s a nice little routine. The shop doesn't have much room for sitting, so most folks just grab their box and head out. We close up once the sun goes down and the streets get a bit quieter around here after the main work rush is over.
