Just Bake

Our shop is tucked into Koramangala 5th Block on 1st Cross, right at number 10. If you know this part of the city, you know how hectic the parking can get around here. We spend a lot of time watching people try to squeeze their scooters into tight spots right outside our window. Inside, the air usually smells like sugar and whatever we just took out of the oven. The glass display cases are always getting finger marks on them from kids looking at the cakes, so someone is usually walking around with a cloth to wipe those off. We have a few staff members who have been here since we opened this branch. We talk about our families while we organize the shelves or wait for the delivery trucks to arrive. The street is full of trees, so we get a lot of leaves blowing in whenever the front door opens. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which is always a bit of a scramble. It gets really busy in the evenings when everyone is heading home from work and wants to pick something up. We just keep the boxes stacked and the counter ready. It’s a small space, but it keeps us moving all day long. We’ve grown used to the noise of the 5th Block and the constant energy of the neighborhood as people go about their daily lives.
