Om Apparels

The stairs up to the first and second floors at No. 26/1B1 in Krishnappa Compound are quite a workout. We are Om Apparels, located right here in Jaraganahalli along the Kanakapura Main Road. You can always hear the heavy traffic outside, the buses and the horns never really stop. Inside, it’s a different kind of noise. We have the hum of the machines and the sound of fabric being moved around. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, especially on the second floor, so we keep all the windows open. The air smells a bit like new cloth and machine oil. There are stacks of boxes everywhere you look, waiting to be sent out. I spend most of my time walking between the two floors, checking on how things are going. The floor is concrete and a bit worn down in the spots where people stand the most. We have a small area near the back where we keep our bags and eat lunch together. It’s a lot of manual work and the days feel long, but there’s a certain feeling of finishing a job when you see the piles of clothes at the end of the week. The light coming in from the main road is always bright, even when it's cloudy. It’s a busy, dusty, and loud place, but it’s where we spend our days and try to keep the business going without falling too far behind.
