Jalsa

Being in Marathahalli means we deal with a lot of traffic and noise every single day. Our place, Jalsa, is over in Doddanekundi Village, specifically at KR Puram 25, 7. It is a busy spot because of all the tech parks and offices nearby. We started this place because we wanted somewhere people could just come and eat without any fuss. The kitchen gets really hot in the middle of the afternoon when the lunch rush is happening. You can hear the staff talking and the sound of the stove from the dining area. We have about ten tables and they usually stay full during the day. Most of the people who work here live just a short walk away, so we are all locals. We do not have a big corporate office or a marketing team. It is just us and the food we make. Sometimes we forget to update the little signs we put out. The floors are a bit worn down because so many people walk on them every day. We buy our vegetables from the market nearby every morning so they are fresh for the day's cooking. If you come by in the evening, you might have to wait a couple of minutes for a seat. The neighborhood is changing very fast with new buildings going up, but we are still here in our same spot. We just keep cooking and hope for the best.
