J Thomas Architects

J Thomas Architects is based over in Mathikere, specifically at A 103 in the Divya MSR Gateway building. It’s right on MSR Main Road, and if you’re coming over the Mathikere Flyover, you’re basically there. We’ve been working out of this spot for a while now. The office has a decent amount of light, which is good when you’re trying to look at fine lines on a drawing all day. It’s not a huge firm, just a few of us who know each other well and have been doing this for years. The flyover right there means there is always a bit of a rumble from the trucks and buses passing by, but it’s just part of the city’s rhythm. We keep our files in these big cabinets that are starting to get a bit crowded with all the paperwork. Most of our days are spent at the desks, though we’re out at sites more than we are in the office some weeks. It’s a very functional space. We don't have fancy art on the walls or anything, just some old project photos and maybe a calendar that’s a month behind. People usually just drop in when they need to talk about their house plans. We make some tea, clear some space on the desk, and get into the details of the day. It’s a simple way of running things, but it keeps the work moving without too much fuss. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy, but we like it here.
