Our daily life happens within the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Iisc Bangalore. This place has a lot of history, and you can see it in the old brickwork and the massive machines tucked away in the labs. We aren't a typical business. Most of us are researchers or staff who handle the practical side of engineering. Our office spaces are usually filled with blueprints, metal scraps, and half-finished models. It’s definitely not a polished or corporate environment. There’s always the sound of someone grinding metal or a motor running somewhere in the background. The campus itself is beautiful and green, which is a nice contrast to the grease and noise of our department. We work long hours, often staying until the late evening to finish a test or fix a piece of equipment. We don’t have a fancy front desk. If you’re looking for someone, you usually have to wander through the halls and check the different workshops. We handle a lot of technical work and coordinate with different teams across the institute. Everything here is about getting things to work properly. Our desks are covered in calculators, pens, and technical manuals. We drink a lot of coffee from the department's small pantry. It’s a busy, sometimes chaotic place, but it’s where real work gets done. We don’t worry about looking professional; we just focus on making sure the machines and projects are moving forward as they should.
