You can find us over at 414, 8th B Main Road in Bangalore. This part of the city is always moving, and 560043 is no exception. Our office is a pretty basic space. We have the standard desks and those blue chairs that you see in every bank across the country. The air conditioner hums constantly to drown out the sound of the traffic on 8th B Main, which can get pretty loud during the morning commute. We spend most of our hours typing away at keyboards and talking to people who come in with their bank books. It’s not all that exciting, but it’s steady work. Some days are faster than others. When it rains, which happens a lot here in Bangalore, the floor gets all muddy from people’s shoes and we have to be careful not to slip. We don’t have any fancy mission statements hanging on the walls, just the required notices and maybe a calendar from last year that someone forgot to take down. We know the regulars by name and we know who is going to ask for a new pen because they always lose theirs. It’s a practical place for practical things. By the time the sun starts to set behind the buildings across the road, we’re usually finishing up the last of the daily tallies and getting ready to head back out into the Bangalore traffic ourselves. It’s just how things go.
