You can find us over in Madiwala, which is a pretty crowded and lively part of Bangalore. Our office is situated on 2nd Cross, right behind the J Maria Hostel and the big Hanuman Statue. If you know Madiwala, you know how busy it gets with the buses and the market nearby. It’s not the quietest place to work, but it’s definitely convenient. We are MEP consultants, so our space is usually cluttered with technical drawings and site plans. The building we are in is quite ordinary. We share the area with a lot of students and workers because of the hostel nearby. It’s a very grounded place to be. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist in a suit. Usually, you’ll just find one of us sitting at a desk covered in papers and folders. The Hanuman Statue is a great landmark for giving directions because everyone knows it. We’ve been here for a while and have gotten used to the constant hum of the neighborhood. Sometimes we have to shout a bit over the traffic noise if the windows are open. It’s a practical location for us since we need to get to different construction sites around the city. We have a small team, and we all know each other’s families and stories. It’s that kind of workplace. We don’t put on airs; we just focus on the mechanical and electrical details of the projects we are handed. There is always some chai being passed around during the mid-morning break.
