We have been running Hawk Tyres out of 1415 Chandra Layout for quite a bit now. It is right near the Goodwill Apartments, which makes it easy for the locals to find us when their treads get thin. The shop isn't anything special to look at, just a place where we keep the jacks and the inventory. Most days it is just us dealing with punctures or helping someone pick out a set of new wheels because the old ones are bald. It gets pretty greasy in here, and my hands are usually stained black by noon. That is just how it goes with this kind of work. We do not have those fancy automated machines you see in the big showrooms, but we know how to use what we have. People usually stop by on their way home from work. Sometimes they just need the air checked. We talk about the traffic or the weather while the car is up on the blocks. It is a simple setup. We grew up around here, so we know most of the people who come in. We don't do much advertising; word of mouth from the neighbors usually keeps us busy enough. The street can get crowded in the afternoons, so we try to work fast so people can get on their way. It’s just honest work with rubber and rims every day of the week. There is always a pile of scrap out back waiting for the collector to stop by.
