Grill & Chill

Grill & Chill sits right on the corner at Cunningham Road Nariman Point 36. It’s a busy spot because of all the offices nearby, so we see a lot of people in shirts and ties looking for a quick bite. The air usually smells like charcoal and grilled meat because the vents are right above the main cooking area. We keep the napkins in those metal dispensers on every table, and they always seem to need refilling every five minutes. The floor can get a little greasy if we don’t stay on top of it, so someone is always scrubbing something. We have a few outdoor chairs, but most people prefer to sit inside where it’s cooler. The kitchen gets incredibly hot in the middle of the day, and you can see the steam rising whenever someone opens a lid. We don’t really do anything fancy with the plating; the food just goes on the tray and heads out to the customer. At 36 Cunningham Road, the noise from the traffic outside is constant, but you sort of stop noticing it after an hour or two. Our staff stays busy with the prep work in the mornings, chopping onions and getting the fires started. It’s a lot of repetitive movement, but it keeps the place running. We just try to get the orders out as fast as they come in without making too many mistakes.
