Down here in Chamarajanagar District, life moves at a different pace than the big cities like Bangalore. Our Govt Polytechnic Ch Nagar is located out in Mambally, specifically in the Siddeswarapete area of Yelandur Taluk. It’s a quiet part of Karnataka, India. Most of the people who come here are locals from the surrounding villages. The address might look long on paper, but everyone around here knows where it is. I spend my days mostly handling the daily tasks that keep a school like this going. It’s a lot of manual record-keeping and talking to students who are often the first in their families to get a technical education. The air is a bit cleaner here and you can see the hills in the distance on a clear day. The building is functional and simple. We don't have the latest gadgets or a big marketing budget. We mostly rely on word of mouth and the fact that we’ve been here for the community for years. Sometimes the rain makes the roads a bit muddy, which makes getting to the campus a bit of a struggle, but we all show up anyway. It's an honest kind of work. We aren't a big fancy institution, just a local polytechnic trying to give these kids a chance at a career. It's a plain, hardworking environment and that suits us just fine.
