Gem Of Arts

Out here in the Shimoga district, things move a bit slower than in the big cities. Gem Of Arts is tucked away in Kunikundur, which is part of the Thirthahalli area. It’s a green part of Karnataka, very beautiful with lots of trees and rain during the monsoon months. We spend our time working on various artistic pieces and crafts. It isn't a factory with thousands of workers. It’s more of a small setup where we focus on the details of what we are making. Sometimes the internet is spotty because we are a bit far out, so we rely on traditional ways of doing things. Our neighbors know us as the people who are always tinkering with something creative. We use materials that we can find or that get brought in from the nearby towns. It can get quite humid, so we have to be careful with how we store everything. People who visit often comment on how quiet it is compared to Shimoga town. We like the peace because it helps with the work. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there. We just want to finish the pieces we started and make sure they look right. Every day is different, depending on what project is on the table. We’ve been part of this community for a long time now and plan to stay here for many more years to come. It's just home for us.
