Ganga Book Centre

Ganga Book Centre is located in Chandra Plaza on the first floor. We are at number 611 on Avenue Road, right near the Mysore Bank Circle. If you know this area, you know it is famous for books and can be incredibly crowded almost every single day. We are directly opposite Sreevari Jewellry. Our shop is packed with books from the floor to the ceiling. It can be a bit hard to navigate the aisles sometimes because we try to fit in as many titles as possible. There is always that specific smell of old and new paper in the air. We spend a lot of time helping people find specific textbooks or novels they are looking for. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow, so you have to be careful when people are coming down at the same time. We don't have a computer system for the inventory; we mostly just remember where everything is. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. The noise from the street below never really stops, with all the honking and people shouting. We’ve been here for years and have seen generations of students come by for their school books. It is a small, busy space, but it has everything a reader might need if they are willing to look through the stacks. We just keep the lights on and wait for the next person to walk through the door.
