Our shop is located right near the Chickpet Circle, at number 2 on A.S. Char Street. Ganeshwmal Tejraj & Co. has been around this specific area for quite some time now. If you’ve ever walked through these streets in Bangalore, you know how crowded it gets with all the shoppers and the delivery guys. We open up early and stay late most days of the week. The building we are in is quite old, and the stairs are a bit steep and narrow, but it works for what we need. We don't have any big signs or flashy lights to get attention. Usually, people just know we’re here because we’ve been in the same spot for years. There’s always stuff being moved around, boxes stacked in the corners, and the sound of calculators clicking away. We don’t really do much online stuff or anything modern like that. It’s mostly face-to-face talk and writing things down in the heavy ledgers. The ceiling fans hum all day long above our heads. Sometimes we have to move things out onto the street just to make enough space to walk inside the shop. It gets dusty, and the traffic outside never really stops, but that’s just Chickpet for you. We just keep our heads down and do the work. It isn’t glamorous, but it keeps us busy. We have our regulars who come in every week, and we just catch up while we handle the orders. It’s a simple way of running things.
