We are set up at Ganesha Garage at Jambhulkar Chowk in Yeshwantpur, at B-190. If you’ve been through this area, you know how busy the traffic gets, so there’s always a layer of exhaust and road dust over everything. The garage is an open-front space where we work on all kinds of vehicles. The floor is stained with oil and grease from years of engine work, and we have tools hanging on every available bit of wall space. It’s loud because of the air compressor and the sound of the main road just outside. We spend most of our time under cars or leaning over bike engines. It’s hot and dirty work, especially in the middle of the day. We don’t have a waiting room with a TV or anything like that; people usually just stand around and chat while we take a look at their ride. We keep a few stacks of old tires near the entrance and a bench where we sit when things slow down for a minute. The building itself is an older one, but it serves our purpose well enough. We’ve seen everything from brand new cars with minor issues to old beat-up vans that barely made it to the gate. It’s just honest mechanical work day in and day out. We try to keep the chaos organized, though it doesn't always look like it from the outside. That is just how we work.
