We’ve been running things out of the Gotagitota site here in Sirsi for some time now. It’s located in the Isloor area, which is a bit of a trek if you aren't used to the roads in Uttara Kannada. The office itself is pretty basic, just a place for us to keep the logs and talk to the workers when they come in for their shifts. Most of the day is spent outside dealing with whatever the weather throws at us. In this part of Karnataka, the monsoon can really slow things down, so we spend a lot of time just managing the mud and the equipment. It’s quiet out here compared to the bigger cities. We usually have tea at the local stall nearby before starting the morning shift. There are about ten of us who stay here regularly to keep an eye on everything. We don't have fancy signs or a big lobby. It’s just a practical workspace for the team. If you’re looking for the place, it's near the post office. People around here know the Gammon India spot because of the trucks. We try to keep things organized, but construction work is always a bit messy. The phone rings a lot with calls from the main office, but mostly we are left to handle the day-to-day stuff on the ground. The road leading up to the site gets dusty in the summer months. We have a small desk for the registers and a few chairs that have seen better days. It’s a simple setup but it works.
