Down here in Hyderabad, we keep things running at our site without making too much of a fuss. The city is always growing and you can see the skyline changing from where we are, but inside the gate, it is the same steady work. We handle the casting side of things and the yard is usually full of heavy stock waiting to move. It gets incredibly hot here during the summer months and the fans in the office barely keep up with the heat. We drink a lot of chai and just get on with it. Most of the staff live nearby so we have a good mix of people who have been around since the very start. It is not a shiny corporate headquarters. It is more of a practical space where the floor is a bit stained and the noise of the machines is the main soundtrack of the day. We don’t really do fancy meetings or long presentations. Usually, it is just a quick chat over a clipboard to see what needs to go out on the trucks. The traffic in Hyderabad can be a nightmare sometimes, so we have to plan the logistics carefully or everything gets delayed at the gates. It is just a straightforward operation. We do the work, look after the equipment, and make sure things are moving. It’s a bit dusty and loud but it feels like home to most of us.
