Defence Services (Army Engineers)

Our office belongs to the Defence Services, specifically the Army Engineers. We are located at the Project Director's office for MAP, at the HQ Training Command in J C Nagar Post, Bangalore. This is a military area, so things are kept quite tidy and everyone follows a schedule. We deal with engineering projects and mapping for various needs. It’s a lot of technical work that requires a bit of patience. The Bangalore weather is usually nice, so we don't mind the walk between buildings. We have a small team here and everyone knows their role. We don't use any fancy management tools; we mostly just use what works and has worked for years. There are maps rolled up in the corners and plenty of blueprints on the tables. We don't go out looking for attention. We just do the tasks assigned by the command and make sure the projects stay on track. It can be a bit slow moving sometimes because of all the approvals needed, but that’s just how the system is built. We drink coffee from the canteen and talk about the weekend while we wait for reports to print. It’s a steady kind of life. We aren't trying to sell anything to anyone. We are just here to serve and get the engineering work done properly without any fuss. It is about doing the duty as it is written in the books.
