Defence Accounts Department

Our office is tucked away in K S Town, over at Abhimaan on the 13th Main. It’s part of the Jnanabharathi Layout in the first stage. Dealing with accounts for the department means there is always a stack of ledgers or a computer screen that needs looking at. It’s a quiet enough area of Bangalore compared to the center, which is nice when you’re trying to focus on numbers. We’ve got a small team here, and most of us have been working together for years. We know who likes their coffee black and who takes three sugars. It’s not a fancy glass building; it’s just a regular place where we come to do the math and keep the records straight. Some days the phones don’t stop, and other days it’s just the sound of typing. We don't have any big speeches about what we do. It’s just keeping things organized and making sure the accounts are right. Sometimes the traffic on the way in is a nightmare, but once we’re at the desk, it’s all about the work. The layout is slowly growing around us, but we’ve stayed pretty much the same. We just show up, do the books, and head home. It’s practical work for practical people. No need to make it sound more complicated than it really is. We just handle the numbers and try to make sure everything adds up correctly before the day is out.
