Hind Optical Co. is located right in the thick of things in Chickpet. If you know where Hotel Vijay Vihar is, we are just right above it on the second floor of No. 234. You have to walk up the stairs past the hotel entrance to find us. It is usually pretty loud outside because Chickpet is always moving, but once you get up to the second floor, it quietens down a little bit. The space is not huge. We have got shelves lined with different frames and a small area where we sit to talk to people who come in. Sometimes the smell of food from Hotel Vijay Vihar drifts up, which makes us hungry before lunch even starts. We have been in this building for quite some time now. The floorboards sometimes creak when you walk near the back window. There is a lot of stock kept in drawers that we have organized over the years. We try to keep things tidy, but there is always a box or two out of place. It is a busy area so we see a lot of people passing by downstairs. Our windows look out over the street, which is good for people-watching during our breaks. Working in Chickpet means you get used to the crowds and the narrow lanes. We do not have fancy decorations, just the stuff we need to get the work done. It is a straightforward shop.
