You can find us at No 1, 1St A Cross in the Vrushabhavathinagar area. We are tucked away in a part of Kamakshipalya called Sannakkibayalu. Our business, Chick Makers India, is all about making bamboo chicks and blinds by hand. It is a very manual process. We spend most of our hours cutting the bamboo, threading the strings, and making sure the slats are even. The workshop is usually covered in shavings and bits of twine. We don't have a corporate showroom with air conditioning. It is just a workspace where we get the job done. People from all over Bangalore call us up when the sun gets too hot and they need some shade for their balconies or porches. We just take down the measurements and start building. The neighborhood around Vrushabhavathinagar is full of small shops like ours, so there is always a lot of noise and activity. We keep to ourselves and focus on the orders we have on the hooks. Sometimes we get a big order that keeps us working late into the night, but that is part of the trade. We use the same methods that have been around for a long time. It is a simple business based on practical skills. If you walk down the cross road, you’ll see our materials stacked outside. We are just regular people making something useful for the local homes and offices.
