Our place is at No. 116 on the 1st Main Road in Chamrajpet, right near 8th Cross. It’s an old part of the city, so the streets are narrow and always full of activity. We have been operating out of this building for some time now. Inside, it’s mostly shelves and boxes stacked up high. We deal with a lot of different goods, so the inventory is always changing. One day we might be moving heavy crates, and the next we are just sorting through smaller packets. It’s physical work and your hands get dirty pretty fast. The delivery trucks come in early, and sometimes they block the whole road, which makes the neighbors a bit annoyed, but that’s just how it is in this area. We have a small desk near the front where we keep the ledger and handle the paperwork. It’s not digital for everything yet; we still like our paper records for some things. The fan overhead keeps the dust moving, but it’s still a bit stuffy in the summer months. We know most of the other shopkeepers around here, so there is a lot of nodding and waving when we step outside for some air. Lunch is usually a tiffin brought from home, eaten quickly between customers. It’s a steady life here in Chamrajpet. We open up early and stay until the shutters go down in the evening. There is always something that needs counting or moving.
