By The Blue

You can find us at the Grand Mercure on 12th Main in Basavanagar. Even though we are in a hotel, we don't really act like those stiff, formal places where you have to whisper. We are right by the pool, so there’s always the sound of splashing and people laughing. It’s a nice break from the 3rd Block traffic. We spend a lot of our shift outside. When it’s sunny, it’s great, but when it pours, we have to scramble to move things under the roof. We do a lot of grilling. The charcoal smoke gets into your clothes, but it smells better than the city exhaust. We aren't trying to change the world with our food. We just put things on the fire and watch them cook. We have a lot of regulars who come just for the evening breeze. It’s one of those spots where you can actually see the sky without a tall building blocking it completely. The staff here is mostly local guys who have been working together for years. We know each other's moods and how to fix the grill when the wind blows the wrong way. It’s not a corporate machine. It’s just us, some cold drinks, and the blue water of the pool. We keep it simple and try to stay out of the sun as much as we possibly can.
