Bhumi & Sons

At Bhumi & Sons, we are located right on Avenue Road, which everyone knows is one of the busiest streets you can find. Our place is at 437/438 in the Bhutaji Plaza building near Doddaiah Layout. It’s a family-run thing, so you’ll usually find one of the brothers or sons behind the counter. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with stock. There isn't much room to move around, especially when a new delivery arrives and we have to stack boxes in the aisles. It gets quite dusty because of all the traffic outside, and the noise of the horns never really stops until late at night. We’ve been here in Joggupalya for a long time. People come to us because they know we have what they need sitting somewhere in the back. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still written down in big ledgers. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us. The afternoon sun hits the front of the plaza pretty hard, so we usually have the shutters halfway down to keep it cool inside. We eat our lunch in the back room between customers. It’s hard work and the days are long, but this is what we’ve always done. We just keep the shop open and take care of whoever walks through the door as best as we can without any fuss.
