About Balaji Frame Work – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
Down on Begur Road, you’ll find our little shop. It’s called Balaji Frame Work. It’s not a very big space, which is sometimes a problem when someone brings in a huge mirror or a giant painting. There is always sawdust on the floor no matter how many times I sweep it up. We spend a lot of time measuring things out and cutting the wood to the right size. If you get it wrong by even a tiny bit, the whole thing looks crooked. Glass is the hardest part because it’s so easy to crack if you aren't paying attention. I’ve cut my fingers more times than I can count over the years. We have samples of different frames hanging on the walls so people can pick what they want. Most people come in with old photos of their families or wedding pictures. It’s nice to see the stuff they care about. Begur Road stays pretty busy, so there’s always noise coming in from the street. We just keep our heads down and keep nailing things together. It’s a simple trade. You need a frame, we make it. We don't have a computer system or anything like that. We just write everything down in a notebook and keep the receipts in a drawer. The smell of cut wood and glue is always there. We use old saws and hammers that have been around for years. It works well enough for us to get the jobs done.
