The yard is usually full of granite slabs and different kinds of marble that we have brought in. It is a very dusty environment and you can always hear the sound of the saws cutting through stone if we are working on a custom size. We do not wear suits here; it is all boots and heavy clothes because the stone can be sharp and the water from the cutters gets everywhere. We spend most of our time out in the sun or under the shed moving blocks around with the equipment. Some customers come by to pick out a specific piece for their kitchen or a floor, and we walk them through the rows of slabs we have. It is not like a shop in a mall. It is hot and loud and there is stone dust on everything including our lunch boxes. We have been here for a good number of years and we know the suppliers around Jigani pretty well. The trucks come in early to load up and that is usually the most hectic part of our day. After they leave, we get back to the cutting and polishing.
