Our shop, balaji tools corporations, is located at 124/3 on Sadar Patrappa Road, which most people just call SP Road. This area is the heart of the tool market in Bangalore, so it’s always crowded and energetic from morning to night. We’ve got a lot of tools crammed into our space. It’s not the neatest place you’ll ever visit, but we usually have what people are looking for if they’re willing to wait a minute for us to find it in the back. I’m usually behind the small wooden desk near the entrance. We get a mix of people coming in—some who know exactly what they need and others who want to see every single option we have. The traffic on SP Road is a nightmare, so we mostly get customers who are already in the area for other things. We deal with various kinds of equipment and hardware. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so you might see my cousins or my brother helping out too when we get busy. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything like that. We just open the shutters, put some of the larger items out on the sidewalk, and wait for the day to start properly. It’s a lot of talking, haggling over prices, and moving heavy boxes around the floor. The floor is concrete and a bit cracked, but it doesn’t bother anyone who comes in. We just keep busy and try to help the folks who walk through the door looking for gear.
