Balaji Steel Bangalore is right here on Kanakapura Main Road in Beleikahalli. It gets pretty loud with all the traffic passing by our front door every day. We spend most of our time dealing with heavy loads and making sure everything is stacked in the yard. The dust from the road comes in sometimes, but that’s just how it is when you’re working with construction materials. We’ve been at this spot for a while now, and the neighbors know us. It’s mostly just us moving rods and sheets around, checking the weight, and getting things ready for whoever stops by. Some days are slow and we just sit and watch the trucks go towards Sarakki or down to the city. Other days it’s a mess of vehicles trying to park while we unload. We don’t have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a desk, some chairs, and a lot of metal. People come in looking for specific sizes, and we look through the pile. It’s hard work on the back, especially when it’s hot out, but we’re used to it. We keep the ledger on the table and try to stay organized, even when the rain starts blowing in. It’s a simple operation really, just a few of us here every morning until the sun goes down. We usually end the day by sweeping the small office area and making sure the gate is locked up tight for the night.
