Our office is tucked away at 58/5 Dodda Mavalli Lalbagh Fort Road. It is an old part of the city and you can really feel that history when you walk around the block. B R D Rao & Company has been operating from this spot for years. The building has those thick walls that keep it a bit cooler when the sun is beating down on the Fort Road outside. Most of our days are spent dealing with the usual pile of documents and ledger books. It’s not the kind of place with shiny glass walls or modern art. Instead, we have wooden desks and shelves filled with folders that have been there since whenever. Being so close to Lalbagh means we see a lot of people passing by, especially during the flower shows. The traffic can be a nightmare sometimes, but that is just part of living and working in this part of town. We usually have the fans going full blast and the sound of the street comes right through the windows. It’s a bit noisy but it keeps us connected to what’s happening outside. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. We just show up, do the work that needs doing, and head home. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook and other days it is quiet enough to actually hear the birds in the trees. It’s a simple way to run a business and it works for us.
