If you go down to Wilson Garden and find Prabhat Chawk, you will see us at number 399. The Asian Institute Of Information Technology isn't some massive campus with a fountain in front or a big lobby. It’s a floor in a building where we have set up several rows of computers for people to learn on. The rooms are a bit tight and the air conditioning hums quite loudly when it’s hot outside. We spend most of our time showing people how to use different programs or explaining how hardware fits together. The whiteboards are usually covered in scribbles and diagrams by the end of the day. Students come in at different times, some early in the morning before their jobs and others late in the evening after they finish work. We keep the place open long hours to make sure everyone gets their time on the machines. It’s a bit noisy because of the traffic at the Chawk, but you get used to it after a week or two of being here. We don't have a big reception desk or a waiting lounge for guests. There are just some plastic chairs and a water cooler near the entrance. Most of the equipment has been here for a bit, but it all works fine for learning the basics. We just focus on the lessons and making sure the computers stay running. It’s simple, honest work and we like seeing people finally understand something they were once struggling with.
